Closing Chapters, Opening Wings
Share
This week, I had a moment that felt both quiet and loud at the same time.
I realized I’m in the last few pages of my current journal.
As someone who journals consistently, that might not seem like a big deal to anyone else—but for me, it stopped me in my tracks. I flipped back to the very first entry and saw the date: January 6, 2022.
And here I am now… March 2026.
Four years of my life, held between these pages.
When I really sat with it, I realized this journal didn’t just hold my thoughts—it held versions of me. It held chapters I didn’t even realize I had the strength to live through at the time.
In this one journal, I:
- Had a baby
- Closed businesses
- Lost love
- Underwent surgery
- Watched one of my children graduate
- Sent one off to the army
- Filed bankruptcy
- Lost my faith… and found it again
So much life. So much stretching. So much becoming.
And now, I’m down to the last few pages.
There’s something deeply symbolic about that. It feels like more than just finishing a notebook—it feels like closure. Like a gentle but undeniable nudge from life saying:
“You’ve completed this chapter. It’s time.”
Not in a rushed way. Not in a pressured way.
But in a knowing.
A calm, grounded, soul-level knowing that I am evolving into the next, higher version of myself.
What’s beautiful is that this time, I’m not resisting the change. I’m not questioning it. I’m not trying to hold onto what was. I’m allowing it.
I’m embracing this new perspective on life.
Even on the days that aren’t perfect… I’m enjoying this space. I’m softer with myself. I’m more present. I’m allowing life to feel good again—not just something to survive, but something to experience.
I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always look like big, dramatic shifts.
Sometimes it looks like:
- Thinking differently
- Choosing peace over pressure
- Letting go without needing all the answers
- Trusting yourself again
And most importantly… continuing to flow.
Because that’s what this season feels like—flow.
No force. No chaos. Just alignment.
As I prepare to close this journal, I’m not just ending something—I’m honoring everything that version of me carried, survived, and created.
And I’m stepping into what’s next with open hands.
Because beautiful butterflies don’t stay in the cocoon forever.
They emerge.
They stretch.
And eventually…
They fly.
So this is your reminder—whether you’re closing a chapter or still writing through one:
Keep growing.
Keep flowing.
And when it’s your time…
Go fly. 🦋
